The Forever Fever

We got our Christmas tree up, and have enjoyed it since we have been isolated to our home these past days.  N. and the girls have been sick with a horrible fever, etc., since last Thursday.  This is the first day that I have not had to medicate Baby I.  Needless to say, we have slept an average of 3-4 hours a night since last Thursday.  When little ones are sick plan on the big ones not resting (due to the demands of the little ones).  Oh, and when one little one cries plan on the other little one hearing them and waking up.  We look forward to celebrating Christ's birth over the next couple of days and are grateful that we most likely will NOT be sick then.  All the Christmas gifts have been purchased and we are wrapping tonight them tonight while enjoying a movie on Netfllix and homemade cherry cream cheese Christmas cookies at home.

Craziness

So, my last entry was mid-October which was when life was "normal".  Funny, I thought life was busy then! I am now committing to blog even when life is crazy for the new year.  Until then, I will be playing catch-up for these last weeks.  We closed on our house shortly after the last blog and I started my 200 hour yoga training the same hour we found out that we got the house.  We got possession Halloween weekend and have been unpacking, organizing, and decorating every since.  Without family that came out to help we would still be unpacking right now.  Instead, we have found ourselves settling in these last two weeks and almost enjoying the space.  Since M. transferred to a "big girl" bed sleeping consistently has been a bit scarce for all of us.   The last two nights have been dreamy...both girls in bed by 730pm.  We thought to ourselves..."this is what I am talking about".  We actually could here our own thoughts.  I think Nathan may have even read a book in silence last night!  The final touches to the home are put on hold now so we can fully enjoy the Christmas season.  We have been making Christmas cookies and we bought and put up our tree this past weekend.  We are thrilled to be able to celebrate this year in our new East Coast home! Thanksgiving 2010

We made the journey back home for Thanksgiving driving with the girls and of course Foxy.  The dog always adds a new element to road trips.  Just when you think you have down the habits of your kids when traveling they grow into a new stage.  The trip overall went well, but the most challenging of the two was definitely M.  I. just loved all being together for that long, where M. was over the harness on her car seat at hour 8.  That poses a bit of a problem when the trip was 12 hours long.  We enjoyed time with family and even had time etched out for a family 5K and family photo.  Although all the family could not make an appearance, the pictures turned out well.  We were able to meet to two babies in the family for the first time as well.  We attempted to be some of the crazies out shopping Thursday night, but quickly realized we were not that crazy.  The line was wrapped around the entire Toys-R-Us building 4 abreast with two news vans and security guards manning the front door.   We enjoyed a quiet shopping trip the following Friday afternoon while the girls napped.  Gingerbread houses were decorated at Grandmas house after all the turkey was long gone.  Our bellies were filled with gumdrops by the time we were finished.  It was tricky hiding the gifts we got the girls for the journey back to the East Coast but it was successful.

More about Fall

We have enjoyed fall and the sun.  Along with taking the girls to the apple orchard we have gone the the zoo and a pumpkin patch.  They love "adventures"!  Although we go on daily adventures to the river across the street and the playground and trail, these other events are seasonal and help them to learn about the land while having a blast!  Also, M. has been busy learning her ABC's with a blues inspired version with an acoustic guitar accompanying it.  We have frequent dance party's in the living room with the alphabet song and old chicken and lion Halloween costumes.

31 on 10-10-10

Last year when I turned 30 I called it my quarter life crisis.  All of a sudden I was old.  Now, I never thought that I was young, but definitely not old.  When I say old I don't mean "old" but old-you know what I mean.  I had a list of things to complete when I was 30 to start off the next 30 years right.  So here is a sort of quarter life bucket list that I completed or started in the last year:

1) cut hair off
2) dye hair another color
3) have two kids
4) get into shape after having two kids
5) start running
6) complete a 5K
7) complete a sprint triathlon
8) move to an urban neighborhood
9) get a tattoo
10) continue yoga training on path to 200hr RYT

Many more items to accomplish over the next 30 years, but this was a good start!!  Thank you honey for encouraging and loving me these last 10 years!!! (also celebrated 10 years of dating on 10-10-10)

"She's walking"

I. is now a walker.  She walks everywhere!  I love watching her little legs as the robotically move her from place to place.  She is generally behaving in the sleep department.  She says a lot of words.  A list of them: waffle, apple, outside, M., eat, walk, goggie (doggie), boot, oh buddy, daddy, mommy, ouch, uh oh, banana, milk, cheese, ba-bye, hello, hi, all done, yes, no.  She has four teeth now, two on bottom and two on top.  She pretty much wants to do everything her sister does and M. looks out for her.  "Mommy sissy needs her boots on too", says M. or "She's walking" or "Mommy, I.  is standing" in reference to I. standing in her highchair.  Our little I. prefers climbing up the slide the reverse way to meet M. coming down the slide.  They have a lot of fun together. Laughing and giggling and giving each other kisses on the cheeks during the day and every night before bed.  I. goes to bed best when she sees that M. is tucked in.  They are really going to enjoy sharing a room in our next place!

Apple Picking ion the East Coast is so lovely

We went apple picking with our little girls and some friends of ours last weekend.  It was lovely!  The weather was actually hot!  Last year it was super frigid and rainy.  We gathered apples in the orchard and met all the farmyard animals.  We even climbed hay stacks.  The girls had a great time, and that's what it's all about!  I am planning on making apple dumplings and an apple pie this week with the orchard apples we picked!!
